We became interested in llamas about seven years before we made our first purchase. A neighboring farm had a guard llama and he was very fascinating. He always came up to the fence for attention. That is where our love affair began with llamas. We made our first llama purchase in 1993. Even though we knew little about llamas, we purchased one. We also raise cattle but had no intention of putting him in with them. One week later the “man of the house” decided he needed his own llama as this one belonged to the “lady of the house”. So we made a second purchase, again knowing little about llamas and not knowing that this male was raised inappropriately. (Known as BMS – Berserk Male Syndrome). For many years the “man of the house”, better known as Gary , would raise his hand at meetings stating that he was a “llamaholic”. (You won’t find that word in the dictionary.) As a result of our first experience we became active in our state association, met new friends and started becoming educated on the needs of our llamas. Our herd averages about ninety (90) and we love each and every one of them. We enjoy showing llamas and, as time allows, we will train a few each year to perform. We also co-host the Ozark Llama Classic Show and Sale each Spring in Springfield , MO We feel it is imperative that new owners be educated prior to making their first purchase. We enjoy working with new owners and answering any llama related questions they may have. We also will show you how to shear, vaccinate, train, etc. We have a wonderful selection of Herdsires with varied bloodlines. We breed for disposition, fiber, and confirmation. Our newest addition is “Peruvian Georgio” a son of Kantu. Our doors are always open to our llama friends and we enjoy meeting new people as well as established llama enthusiasts. Please take a few minutes to look around our website and feel free to contact us with any questions or comments. Gary and Mary Beeson |
